Connection

Before Correction™

Children don't thrive because they're corrected more. They thrive because they feel understood first. What began as a phrase repeated in a handful of parenting workshops in Surat has grown into a global shift in how families, educators, and communities raise children.

The core idea

One shift, in tone,
 in timing, in attention.

"A tantrum is not defiance - it's a young brain that hasn't learned to regulate itself yet."

At the centre of the movement is a single conviction: children don't need to be corrected into who they should become, they need to be connected with for who they already are. It's a philosophy Schweta lives before she teaches - raising her own two children and mentoring 600 more at HappyMinds with the same intention, not to produce today's high achievers, but to shape tomorrow's kind leaders, creative thinkers, and resilient adults.

A "difficult" child is usually just a child who hasn't felt truly seen. Most parenting struggles get easier not with stricter rules, but with more connection - a single idea that now shapes every program, book, and workshop built under the HappyMinds name.

How it's put into practice

Hand, Head,

and Heart.

The framework every HappyMinds program is built on - addressing a child's practical skills, thinking ability, and emotional development together, rather than as separate areas.

Hand

Practical skills

Life skills, dramatic play, and hands-on activity that build independence and problem-solving at an age-appropriate pace.

Head

Thinking ability

Curiosity, focus, and cognitive growth - nurtured through storytelling, podcast learning, and structured public speaking.

Heart

Emotional development

Structured space for children to express themselves, so they feel understood first - before behaviour is ever corrected.

Movement in motion

Beyond the workshops
and the stage.

Three initiatives that carried Connection Before Correction from a parenting philosophy into a public conversation.

Giving children a voice

Kids Parliament

A structured space for early civic thinking, where children practise voice and collaborative decision-making, built to give them room to express themselves rather than simply follow instruction.

A first for India

The kids-led, kids-run podcast

India's first podcast conceived, hosted, and run by children - an extension of the same belief that kids learn best when given structured space to be heard, not just spoken to.

A viral reminder

#BachpanManao

A campaign that reminded a generation of parents that boredom is not a problem to be solved but a necessary part of a child's growth - reaching families well beyond HappyMinds' own community.
